PAGET ROAD, BARRY
This seafront abandoned building was refurbished and converted into 5 apartments with magnificent views over the Bristol Channel. The apartments are sited above a refurbished ground floor retail unit with new glazed shop fronts and a basement. The façade of the building was 'brought back to life' by re-rendering and the use of subtle pastel colours together with the repairs of the ashlar balustrade and the renewal of all windows.
The difference in levels between the front of the building and the rear of the property enabled
a steel framed transfer structure to be constructed on the existing car park that enabled car parking spaces to be maintained whilst creating 3 new floors of timber framed residential units (6 in total).
The new rear extension was joined on to the existing property thus creating a central communal core. The extension contrasts the existing building with its contemporary feel of cedar cladding and large elements of glazing with Juliet balconies that enhance the aspect and affords the occupants views over the neighbouring bay.
